I finished two more kimono tops, one big for a boy already born, and one little for a boy on the way. I hope my sizing adjustments were successful. I also made some changes to the front flap and added pants. Part of me loves these new sets, but most of me fears that they look a little too psych ward?? Hopefully the babies won't mind.

Have a great weekend!

One of the things I love about craft work is the math work that goes into building a pattern or adjusting sizes. Us "creative types" always get a bad rap for being flighty and loosey-goosey when it comes to the hard facts, but the truth is, I use more math for my craft projects than anything else in my day-to-day and I really, really like it. Working on adjusting that kimono pattern today. I didn't make the changes I thought I was going to, but I think I finally got the sizing right for little r.

We are still trying to work out this nap thing. Is it one, or two? In an attempt to keep her up yesterday, we went for a long morning walk. As you can see, it didn't have the effect I was hoping for. Today we are trying new tactics.

I've got a handful of friends who are expecting babies in the next few months and I've decided that this kimono top is going to be my go-to shower gift. I made one for little r before she was born and it is just the right combination of precious & practical. I also like that it's easy to mix and match fabrics to make them pretty gender neutral, as a lot of my friends either aren't finding out the sex, or keeping it a secret.
The pattern is an old one from Martha Stewart Kids, but you can still find it online. I am thinking of making some changes for the next round though, so stay tuned.

Whew. Little r and I just got back from what I think is the longest vacation I've ever taken and I really can't believe it's been almost a full month since I've been here.  Like I said, whew. Before I left I had dreams of dropping by every now and again to update with little posts and let you all know what we were up to, lost in the abyss. But, just like my inability to get my act together to take photos on vacations, I also cannot get on a computer to save my life.
I did manage a few shots - all of little r. I guess if you give me a month I can come up with something. To keep things relevant, you may notice some previous sewing projects in action.
